Taxi Cartel Boxes and Attempts to Intimidate in Rideshare Driver

It’s scary out there for an Uber driver!

When Uber and comparable apps hit the scene, taxi drivers weren’t too happy. Some of the reasons for their disdain were justified, such as the fact that Uber’s initial prices significantly undercut costs and that the whole industry was unregulated, leading to more rideshare cars on the road than available riders.

Other complaints were less warranted. For example, being part of rideshare made it a lot harder to scam people.

See, the “taxi” grift has been a thing in developing countries for decades, and up until recently, if you were a foreigner in another country, there was about an 80 percent chance that any cab you got into would try to rip you off.

Now, that’s changed, and those people who were making money from the taxi scam are pretty pissed about it, as this video of drivers intimidating a rideshare driver shows.
